Happy First Birthday Me
Today officially marks the first year of business for Rachel Hunter Copywriting.
It is amazing to think that just over a year ago I was a struggling single mum on Universal Credit and a year later I am on my way to financial self sufficiency.
And a year ago I never dreamed there would be the added challenge of lock down.
It is the second time I have faced extra hardship during a typically tough milestone. For example I graduated from university in 2008 around the time of the financial crash.
I was swimming in a sea of thousands of other graduates scrambling after the same jobs and with my Scottish Literature Degree I was an unlikely candidate.
That and a lack of self-confidence.
Well, in a way that insecurity was a boon - with the benefit of hindsight.
It led me to starting my family fairly young - before I was ready probably. But having my son Kenny was the making of me.
I knew it at the time and I feel it more and more everyday.
It forced me to pour my energy and drive into the mission of raising him and subsequently his little brother. Of course I haven’t done it all alone, but having kids made me take my life seriously for the first time.
Then when I decided to start my own business, I had already developed strong willpower, grit and the determination to succeed.
When my youngest son started school last year I knew it was time for me to use that freed-up time to embark on a new mission: that of a career helping businesses carefully craft their message so that they could achieve their goals.
As a parent there is nothing more satisfying than watching my kids grow into unique, amazing individuals. I consider my copywriting to be my youngest baby. As it turns one, I am only just beginning to see its potential.
And that fires me up even more to continue investing my time and energy every day to improve in order to better serve my clients.
Tonight I am visiting the pub for the first time since lock down to sit in a beer garden with friends and toast to a new chapter.
If you want to be part of that (the new chapter, not the drinks tonight- although you’d be more than welcome!) and see how I can help your business craft compelling content email me: rachel@rachelhunterwriting.co.uk
